We know how important it is to understand the condition of a used book before you buy it. While we adhere to widely recognized industry criteria, we've refined the language to give you a clearer understanding of what to expect.

Our specific used book grade—from Excellent to Good—is displayed prominently on every book listing. We've even taken it one step further and added photos of every book so you can shop with confidence.

Bloomin' Sally's Grading System

Excellent

As close to new as you can get.  A book in excellent condition may have been read once.  The book has been handled minimally and is in practically perfect shape. Spine is not creased (for paperbacks). No writing, highlighting, or dog-ears. Dust jacket is clean, complete, and bright with no noticeable chips or tears. May contain a publisher's remainder mark.

Very Good

A used but well-cared-for book in great condition. It shows minor signs of previous ownership.  May have minor shelf wear or slight rubbing on the edges.   The spine may show minimal reading creases. All pages are clean and intact. No major flaws or tears.

Good

The average used book. It's a solid, readable copy but shows clear signs of having been used and read multiple times. Spine may be creased and/or slanted. May have minor notations, highlighting, or owner names. Cover may have scuffs or small tears. The book remains structurally intact with all pages present.
